Academics

Entering the Soundcurrent

"Progress comes to those who train and train; reliance on secret techniques will get you nowhere." - Morihei Ueshiba

Educating oneself into understanding the power of Sacred Sound entails an understanding of consciousness, the two are intertwined. Make no mistake about this. Very few training's even in university Music Therapy programs, miss this truth. Today there is a plethora of 'sound healing' programs that one can engage, but generally the majority of them are 'instrument based.' You can translate this to mean that your being offered 'instrument lessons' with a smattering of sound information wrapped around this. The purpose is to sell you instruments like crystal bowls, tuning fork sets, gongs, Tibetan singing bowls, etc. Sure this is a path of learning, but possibly one needs to question the motive, or evaluate the academic depth of such programs. Sound is a very powerful medium which we have already gone into detail, so why not approach this seriously rather than casually. Sound is shaping consciousness, it's affecting not only the physical body but the emotional and spiritual bodies as well. Not only is there a psychology to this, but overwhelming clinical studies worldwide support this.

It would be prudent to understand the significance and responsibilities associated with seeking the best training possible. To better understand how non-college programs stack up, here is a LINK.
