RED KACHINA

A rare outside or in this case 'inside' performance of the latest tonal soundscape composed by the Secret Gong Orchestra.

Live in the Widow Jane Mine with the Gong collections of Nancy Aleo, Mitch Nur, Ricarda O'Conner, Sam Weng, and Janet Young.

Within the indigenous Pueblo cultures of the American Southwest the Kachina represents ancestral spirits or the person who represents a Kachina spirit in ceremonial dances. Depending upon culture, the Kachina can represent the immortal beings that bring rain, control other aspects of the natural world and society, and act as messengers between humans and the spirit world.

In this presentation by the Secret Gong Orchestra, the Gong is being seen as the tonal messenger to the spirit world. An ambient soundscape with textural overlays, with dynamic overtures of harmonic nuances, and far reaching powerful energetic force.

Hopi legend tells the story of the Twins, symbolic guardian energies of the North and South poles of planet Earth. A Hopi prophesy tells the story of the return of the nephews of the Twins - Blue Kachina and Red Kachina. Each one represents coming change, with the Blue Kachina signaling the advice of returning to our peaceful ways; and the Red Kachina - the Purifier.

Many feel within our indigenous Native Lands, that the watchful eye of the Red Kachina is being seen, and soon will makes it's return. “Those who return to the ways given to us in the original teachings, and live a natural way of life will not be touched by the coming of the Purifier. They will survive and build the new world. Only in the ancient teachings will the ability to understand the messages be found."

It is hoped through this performance, that participants will be touched by spirit.

The audience is advised to bring a folding chair to the performance.
